Oh weren't we supposed to be hiking?!

So, after we went to Natural Bridge, we did some  traveling around Virginia & OBX. Going to The Eastern Shore & exploring places in our backyard.....or close to it. We also found a love of kayaking. 
So we had found a love for kayaking with some friends of ours. I still love to kayak!! Life got in the way & we both had a couple of job changes. We even got to kayak in The Keys!
What a fun experience! But after Covid hit, we really started to be outdoors more & that's when I found the Virginia State Parks Trail Quest. And we have started back hiking. 
The first Park we hiked was Grayson Highlands in 2021.
We have hike Grayson Highlands a few times.  It is our favorite park so far. We also love staying in Grayson County, so that helps. These pictures were from our August 2021 hike. 
So now you see how long in between we had taken a break. But we are trying to get back into it. Stay tuned for more hiking stories from us.

How We Got Started Hiking

Just a story on how we got started hiking, & pictures from our first hike at a state park. My Hubby has always been an outdoorsman. He has hunted since he was 5 years old & probably came out of the womb with a fishing pole in his hand. I on the other hand grew up in the city, before moving to the country. (Which is where my other blog got started, about living in the country, after being born in the city). When I lived in the city, I would ride my bike or walk wherever I wanted to. I liked building forts in the woods, going to the park through the woods from my neighborhood or just exploring anything. It was especially exciting when I would happen upon a forgotten cemetery. I would clean up around the headstones & try my best to clean them. I always wanted to know when they were alive & when they died, to see how long they lived.
